Very helpful to have all this info on one post. Many thanks.

When was the last time a Rockland team has ever won a Section 1 title?? Has it ever happened??? GO SUFFERN!!!

    • Joe Lombardi says:

The last — and only time — a Rockland team won the Section 1 title was 1986 when Nyack beat John Jay 5-2 in the Class B championship game. Suffern has been to four Class A sectional title games, must recently in 2003, when it lost to Lakeland/Panas 11-7.

    Great info. Thanks Joe.

  4. Lax Observer says:

Suffern has a good combination of players at all the key positions and always plays that packed in defense that forces perimeter shots. Those who take them lightly could be sorry.

  5. Lion says:

At one time Nyack was well known for its lax program. The 1986 victory was probably its greatest moment, but before when Rockland was section 9 they regularly had deep runs into the state playoffs.

Nice for the alumni to see this years team do well, with measured expectations of course.

  6. Lax n stuff says:

Agree. Suffern has one of their best teams in years and defense wins championships.

  7. justlaxin says:

Suffern is decent this year but has not beaten anyone who is really at the top of the section. Lost to Pac and LP. Their best win is a 2 goal win vs White Plains. They are not near the top of the heap. McNally wants to be at the top he needs to schedule some better competition. He schedules Valley Central to get a 5 or 6 point win for sectional seedings instead of a LI game, etc. He could easily schedule a better game but likes to dominate Rockland. His kids face higher competition and lose for they haven’t played real tough competition outside of 2 games this year. LP and Pac are both tested for playoffs.
Class B will be the best semis. Hopefully Town, Somers, JJ and Rye will be seeded so that they can meet in the semifinals on Monday. Would be ridiculous if TZ or Nyack got a top 4 seed and 3 of those teams ended up on the same sid eof the bracket.

Keep hating on Rockland and Suffern because Westchester must have invented lax and all sports for that matter. Westchester arrogance…
