Summer travel teams from throughout the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut area will be among those competing today at the eighth annual Long Island Pride Fest at Hofstra University in Hempstead.

In addition to the host Pride, WestRock and the Connecticut Chargers are in the field.

You can get the complete rundown of teams, and today’s schedule, by clicking here.

Also gang, just a reminder. The fifth annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic is set for today at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium and several standouts from the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region will be involved in the action.

A total of eight University of North Carolina recruits (more than any other program) will compete in the event. That contingent includes recent West Islip graduate Nicky Galasso, the all-time leading scorer in Long Island lacrosse history. The North vs. South boys high school all-star game will be televised live at 8 p.m. on Saturday on ESPNU.

Galasso will be joined on the North team by former West Islip teammate Andrew Hodgson. Hodgson told me earlier this month he’s eagerly awaiting the game since it will be played on the home field of his future college team, Towson.

Three players from Chaminade will also be playing on the North team: defenseman John Urbank and Mike Ehrhardt and attackman Will Himler. Jack Moran, who founded the Chaminade program 31 years ago and has been the program’s only coach in its history, will guide the North team. Another player from the CHSAA, St. Anthony’s grad Thomas Schreiber, is also a member of the North team.

  4. all i know says:

Ct Chargers U17 blue blew out one of the Westrock U18 in the first game of the day and then that Westrock team blew out the rest of their schedule including one of the Chargers teams, but I don’t know which one and I think that chargers U17 blue team won all their games.

    Not a gr8 tournament…just a couple of coaches from what I saw and alot of so-so teams/

The only thing I can say is if Westrock and the Charegrs didn’t show up they wouldn’t have had a tournament. orange bags and chargers helmets everywhere. lol.

  5. oss pride says:

westrock beat the chargers u18 gold team by one goal, they definitely did not blow anyone out….

  6. do over says:

Read the post above again oss pride…The Chargers U17 Blue …U17 BLUE….that’s Chargers U-1-7 Blue team blew out one of the Westrock U18 teams.

The U17 blue team blew out one of the Westrock U18 teams…it was a blow out score, like 13-3 or 13-4…the U17 BLUE team….one of the Westrock U18 teams…

The U17 Blue score has nothing to do with the Chargers U18 Gold, does it? No.
