The CIAC semifinals take place tomorrow at locations across the state, but Brien McMahon’s Jack Casagrande Field will play host to Connecticut’s two marquee matchups – the New Fairfield-Wilton clash in M and the Ridgefield-Prep rematch in L.  Those are previewed below.

Darien coach Jeff Brameier (Photo by Jim Stout/MaxPreps.com) It’s time. For months, FCIAC fans have known this moment would arrive. Though it nearly did not (thanks to an inspired effort by New Canaan in the FCIAC semifinals), Ridgefield and Darien will indeed be meeting for the FCIAC title.

Roy Colsey didn’t sleep well last night. His baby son made sure of that. Not that it mattered anyway. “I wasn’t going to get much sleep last night no matter what,” he said. After all, today was the day Ridgefield had marked on its calendar for weeks — make that months. Maybe even years.

I only wish I could make it to all of them. Realistically, three is going to be a stretch. But I’m going to try. (Other than the postseason tripleheaders, this will be a first for me. So stay tuned, my friends.)

Most now view the FCIAC championship chase as a two-horse race between defending champion Darien and Ridgefield. Those two teams don’t meet till mid-May. But we may get a bit of an idea how the teams compare tonight when Darien visits Wilton.
