We told you yesterday in this space that even though the high school season is over, there would be plenty of news and info to pass along on a daily basis from now till the start of the 2012 season.

We are expecting some noteworthy recruiting news this week. So stay tuned for that.

Also, for those in the Section 1 region, we have a day for you to mark your calendars.

This Thursday, June 16.

Whether you’re a graduating senior player or underclassman, there are two events of particular interest for Section 1 players that days.

As we told you last week, the Section 1 Senior All-Star Game will be played 6 p.m. at Yorktown High School’s Charlie Murphy Field.

Many of the top returning players in Section 1 will also be playing about 12 miles away at John Jay High School.

For the third straight year, that will be the host site for Section 1 All-Star Showcase. Registration for the one-day recruiting event is now closed with more than 80 players expected to compete.

Action gets under way at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 9:30 p.m.

For more info, click here.

If you’re in the Section 1 area, you’ll also be interested to know that games in the Sound Shore League start this week.

The league, which started as an adult men’s league, also includes boys and youth leagues in action to the men’s league, which primarily plays games evenings at Purchase College and other turf field facilities.

For more info and schedules, click here.

As always, be sure to post info, scores and rosters for Sound Shore teams here.

The high school season is still fresh on many folks minds. For good reason. It was quite a memorable one on many fronts.

I’ll be joining anchors Jared Greenberg and Shawna Ryan in the MSG Varsity “High School SportsDesk” studio on Monday to analyze and break down the results of Saturday’s title games. Be sure to check it out today at 6 p.m. on iO Channel 14. (The show reairs at 9 p.m.)

We took a look at this weekend’s big games in this week’s InsideLacrosse.com column on the lax scene in the tristate area. You can check it out by clicking here.

For a rundown of results from Saturday’s state and TOC finals and Wednesday’s semifinals, click here. On that post, you can also access box scores from some of the games there as they become available. (Links to the downstate semifinal final stats are available.)

Now that the high school season wrapped up this past season, be sure to weigh in with what you think was the most memorable moment by voting in our latest poll.

To vote, go to the right panel of this page. Then, just scroll past the “New Comments” and “Popular” tabs and click on “Poll,” and then cast your vote from the choices available, or write in your choice if it’s not listed.

  1. 2012 says:

    Joe,

Do you know of any notable teams that will be jumping to different class sizes due to enrollment?

  2. Joe Lombardi says:

Everything should be the same throughout the region classification wise for the most part. One noteworthy change in Section 1 though – Hen Hud is moving down to Class C from Class B for 2012.

  3. justlaxin says:

Any word on LI movements or Nisky staying in A as opposed to moving down to B? Really changes that Regional quarterfinal game for Section 1 Class B teams.

  4. justlaxin says:

Manhasset in particular on LI. Are they staying in B?

Who looks to be the favorites in division 1, 2, and 3 of the suond shore league?

  7. Rui says:

Division 1 favorites would have to be No Limit, Garden Catering, Prime Time

Not sure so much about Division 2

Division 3 would have to be Crown Trophy

    • slacrosse says:

Can you throw out the names of some of the notable players in D1/D2-thx

      • BigBadBear says:

many…hard to tell who will show up..y’town by itself could have a leauq.e I did see big John Ranagan, among others, last summer

      • Rui says:

Division 1 team Prime Time i believe is led by the Daniellos from John Jay…Garden Catering usually has the best players from Connecticut, examples from last year CJ Costabile(Duke), Will McKee(Duke), and bunch of other guys….No Limit is led by Paul Carcaterra and he always has studs on his team…not sure about division 2 teams

  8. Rui says:

    • Rui says:

***Note*** Prime Time didnt have their entire roster show up, and I still think when its all said and done, they will be in the Top 3 teams of Division 1 with No Limit and Garden Catering

    • slacrosse says:

      Thang for the details

  9. justlaxin says:

    Rui
John Jay excuses even for summer ball. **Come on.** Dont know what the asterisks mean but you used them so right back at you.
Many of the D1 teams have some real good players people dont know too much about. All about having fun. Enjoy.

    • Lax Novice says:

You must be hating on John Jay to say such a thing.

      • justlaxin says:

I just heard alot about injuries all year and guys not being there and then the 1st summer league game Rui makes the comment that all the guys werent there…..that’s all….dont hate John Jay at all….love alot of their kids who I have worked with over the years…great program that does not need excuses….

        • laxr says:

Lax Novice was being sarcastic. If you look back on some of his posts, it is clear that he has no love lost for John Jay or Ridgefield.

          • Lax Novice says:

Although your instinct is correct, it’s not that I don’t appreciate or admire the staff and players in those programs, it’s the nonsense from the parents that I feel needs to be held up to some reasonable standard of logic and common sense. And whether by design or accident, some of those people say the most outrageous things that its almost too easy to make fun of.

That was pretty funny to read, that no sooner than the 1st summer league was played (and lost) than the “i” word came out regards Jay’s summer team. Let’s face it, in the summertime no team is going to have 100% attendance every week, people have lives to live, and the results really don’t matter, do they?

  10. Rui says:

Asterisks was my version of ” PS ” saying that I had one more bit of info to put out there…they didnt make excuses and neither am I, but when its all said and done, Prime Time will be in it at the end of the season

  11. slacrosse says:

New England Under Armour Underclassmen Team Selected

Congrats to all the kids selected.

In particular want to congratulate Brian Pickup, Rye High who was also selected. Brian qualified to try out as he’s doing a PG year at Deerfield (Mass).

    • Lax Novice says:

Also congrats to the selection of the Cornell-bound duo of Tony Britton and Henry West, Georgetown recruit John Kelly of Brunswick and our old friend from Darien faceoff/midfielder Jeff Kratky of the Taft School. Notable in the roster is that Britton and West were two of only five public school players selected out of a total roster of twenty-four, and the only ones from Connecticut.

      Good luck to all.

  12. BP says:

Lets not forget about the Goose Bar and Grill, mainly made up of studs from Darien, who lost by a goal in the championship game last year to Primetime (i think).
