  1. Laxxx says:

Seems like other than maybe Class B with JD the downstate NY winner will be heavy favorites to win the state title.

    • Old Rugger says:

I wouldn’t look past Cazenovia just yet in C. Sect 3 has more than one strong team. While LI may be favored I would not say heavy fav for class C.

      • slacrosse says:

Agree. Multiple good teams in Class C upstate—And we’re not talking Manhasset anymore.

Wouldn’t count out Bville. They haven’t faced a top quality team yet so can’t judge but if they really have all-round high quality (importantly on D), then they could win it.

        • ReLAX says:

We’ll see how much it matters that bville wasn’t really tested by very good teams this year. I’ve seen Mamaroneck, Fordham Prep, WP & BH as well as Mt Sinai & BBP yesterday. The quality of competition the sect.11 teams played was better & it looks like CSH should beat BBP. If BBP wins on Sat, they have a big good D which could match bville’s excellent O, which is a key. I have no idea about CSH, but since they beat Friends twice this yr & BBP lost to Friends way back in March it might be CSH that gets bville next wed. I do expect bville to beat GF this sat. Amazingly, bville has still not played a Pac, Town, L/P, Somers, JJ, Rye even Suffern for that matter type team. It really would of helped to have scheduled one of those teams & that’s just sect.1 quality. Look at who BBP or CSH played. As always I’m in agreement w/ you slacrosse.

          • Laxbro says:

Bronxville did play Somers in a scrimmage preseason. Although thats not a great indication Bronxville was able to beat Somers by a few, in the first half of that scrim with their starters (-42 who was hurt) and second half 2 and 10 sat. But still it was preseason not a great indicator.

          • WLax says:

The problem with Bville’s schedule is that it is also difficult for them to get games against better teams.

Say if a traditional power JJ or LP or better in this case Rye were to play Bville and lose it would be a large upset and a problem for them come seedings. However, if these teams play other traditional powers and lose it is not as large of a problem

The point is that it does not benefit them as much to play a team like Bville who may be good one year but not a traditional power. They can get good games somewhere else without risking their seeding value.

Bville also happens to be in SoWest which creates geographic problems.

Its the way the system is and it stinks, but for now its tough luck for Bronxville.

          • ReLAX says:

I know it doesn’t matter now but bville needed to get in a bus & go play a really good team. If not sect.1,8 or 11 A,B or C then maybe CT. Not sett, GC, WI or SW but someone that’s better than Fordham Prep. They are the best C in sect.1, but overall in our sect, one could argue they are the 8th best team behind PAC, town, JJ, L/P, Somers, Suffern & Rye. That game(s) really would mean something Come next Wed. Salmon River probably has a similar situation, although they’re unbeated & killed everyone they played. Even w/ the 2 AA’s bville might not be as good as everyone thinks. They still have ALOT to prove. I’m not “hating on them” it’s the truth

          • WLax says:

I agree with you that it really hurts bville that they didn’t play anyone of high caliber. There is no way around that.

But try telling an AD with limited money to get on a bus and play someone in a different state when you have a very limited budget. Bronxville is not JJ or Ytown when it comes to lacrosse.

    • Seven Costanza says:

JD …did they beat anybody good?

    • laxr says:

Actually, Ithaca is the best team in upstate this year. West Islip will be favorites, but they can’t overlook the Little Red (and I am sure that they won’t).

    • ReLAX says:

Check out Salmon River as well as Cazenovia. SR has killed everyone they’ve played. Upstate Lax is no joke. We’ll see how bville handles GF. If they dominate them like SR did we’ll have an idea. Cazenovia looks real tough as well

  2. Laxtime says:

This is great. Just printed it out.

  3. slacrosse says:

Good luck Section 1 in Albany.

Except for Pac/Shen, should be another two sleepers in B and C.

  4. Lax Novice says:

Darien’s road to “7 in 11” runs through the FCIAC yet again, Ludlowe, then Wilton, then New Canaan. I suppose that’s how it should be, to be the best you play the best.

Good luck to all still playing.

  5. jack says:

    JD beat W Genny

  6. slacrosse says:

    Joe,

When will you be publishing All-Section, League-Thx

    • Joe Lombardi says:

As I said Tuesday, slacrosse, whenever I receive it from the coaches. Last year it took a week or more after the meeting to give you a general idea.

      • ReLAX says:

Did Summit win? & if so what team/group winner do they get next & when? Thanx Joe

        • Joe Lombardi says:

          Glad you asked, reLAX.

Summit won in five OTs over Chatham 7-6. Sonny Round got the game-winner with 2:26 remaining in the fifth OT. That’s 67 in a row, if you’re scoring at home.

Amazing the way both Summit and West Islip have maintained their win streaks the last two days. WI’s win streak is now 40. The Lions have won eight straight Suffolk Class A titles as well.

          • ReLAX says:

Will Summit play one of the other group winners or are those equal to our A, B, C’s or CT’s L, M, S?

          • Joe Lombardi says:

The group winners will play one another now in the Tournament of Champions to determine the overall top team in the state. Kudos to NJ for having the TOC!

          • ReLAX says:

W Islip has an “aura of greatness” surrounding them. After the thrilling win yesterday, Coach Craig waited for the bus to arrive w/ college coaches chatting him up & Turri held what looked like his MVP plaque. He looks like “Opie Taylor” w/ the helmet off, but when Pannell was squared up w/ him w/ the game on the line Turri was a killer

  7. Bruin Lax says:

Congratulations to Conrad Oberbeck of Brunswick – Laxmagazine.com Northeast USA player of the week …

  8. laxman says:

Wait, so does this mean Shenendowa beat Nisky in class A? Because i thought Nisky would be playing ‘pac

  9. East End Lax says:

    Let’s do this BBP!
