Back-to-back wins over Sachem North and Chaminade (above) last week have re-established West Islip as a national power.

The West Islip Lions had to take a hit.

A big hit.

After all, losing Nick Galasso, Long Island’s all-time leading scorer and the staple of the team’s run of four state titles in five years, and star senior Andrew Hodgson had to take its toll.

It was sound reasoning to be sure.

But, so far this season, and especially this past week, West Islip looks like it hasn’t missed a beat.

Yesterday, the Lions picked up a thoroughly impressive 8-7 win against Chaminade during an eventful day of games we may not repeat again until the playoffs. (For more on that, click here.)

West Islip re-establishing itself as a powerhouse is among the topics we focus on in the latest edition of our weekly InsideLacrosse.com tristate High School Notebook. We also take a look at Brunswick’s breakout win over Salisbury, Mahopac’s historic victory against Mahopac and Manhasset’s domination of John Jay.
