David Dickson hopes his senior season at Greenwich goes a lot like his junior year.

The 6-foot senior attack/midfielder, who has committed to Bucknell, was a first-team all-FCIAC selection last year and also was named all-state.

And, oh yeah, Dickinson helped the Cardinals win the FCIAC title.

Can Greenwich make it two in a row?

Be sure to weigh in with your thoughts in our latest poll question, “Who do you think should be the favorite to win the FCIAC title?” (On the right panel of this page, just scroll past the “New Comments” and “Popular” tabs and click on “Poll,” and then cast your vote from the choices available, or write in your choice if it’s not listed.)

Here is David’s perspective on the 2011 season:

What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
So far this offseason, we have been playing a lot of box lacrosse up at the SoNo Field House. We have also really been stressing how important it is that our guys get in the weight room and also keep their stick skills up.  Seeing as injuries really played a major role last season, recently we have been doing some stretching sessions with Mrs. (Kristen) Bulkley just to make sure we go into the season as healthy as possible.

How does your schedule look, including scrimmages, and what games are you looking forward to?
Our schedule for this year looks great. We’ll start off the year with a scrimmage against Hotchkiss and it should be fun to see how our younger guys are looking and also how we match up against the boarding schools. I think another game our guys are really looking forward to is the recently added Ward Melville game, as well as a couple of other out-of-league teams we decided to add to our schedule this year.

Lastly, Darien and New Canaan have always been big rivals of ours so those games are always circled on our schedule.

What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
I think that Alex Moeser is really going to surprise teams this season. He is only a sophomore but he is always one of the fastest guys on the field and can beat practically anyone from up top. He did a great job last year as a freshman but I think he’s really matured as a player and he should be a serious threat this season. On the defensive side of the field, everyone knows Adam Sands and how good he is but junior Alec Webster will also be a big part of our defense and we are expecting a lot from him.

What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
Definitely our defense. We only lost one starter from last year’s defense and some of the younger guys have looked pretty impressive and whoever wins that starting job should be a great replacement. We also have two very talented goalies in Ryan Fisher and Daniel Feeney. Lastly, short-stick defensive middies Fritz Wayne and Patrick Robben are without a doubt some of the best in the state.

How do you view the race in the FCIAC and who do you think the contending teams will be?
Being the defending champs we know that we are going to be the team to beat and we might not be able to fly in under the radar the way we did last year but our goal of winning the FCIAC remains the same. I think everyone in the state knows how talented Darien is this year and as always Wilton and New Canaan are expected to be good too so it should be fun to see what happens.
