The University at Albany’s men’s lacrosse program has had a strong Yorktown connection for the last 12 years.

That’s the length of time former Husker star Scott Marr has been the Great Danes’ head coach.

During that time, Marr, the older brother of Yorktown varsity coach Dave Marr, has been able to successfully recruit some talented Yorktown players. Currently, 2008 graduate Rocky Bonitatibus is a junior midfielder. Next season, current Husker Tyler Fahey, will also be a Great Dane.

As we reported in our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown,” Fahey has decided on Albany.

A 6-foot-2, 210-pound defenseman, Fahey, who is also a football standout, has good size and athleticism.

Here’s a Q&A with Tyler on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Albany?
It’s a great school that has a good lacrosse team that has a good history of success. They also have some great recruits coming in.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I was considering Drexel and Siena for lacrosse and Ithaca and Cortland for football. I visited both Drexel and Siena

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I need to work on my footwork, stick work and getting stronger.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths are my conditioning, strength and size. I like to run the ball up and be physical by playing good defense.

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
Players that I have looked up to were Ethan Fox, John Fennessy, Brett Cabriele, Brendan Brunelle, Mike Bonitatibus and more .

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
The summer of my sophomore year.
