If you’ve been checking out our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” each day, you’ve been keeping up college commitments as they’ve been made, with more info, insights, analysis and reaction provided here.

So though today marks Day 1 of the fall signing week, there will be few, if any surprises — or even new news — between now and next Wednesday, Nov. 17. At least among the seniors from the nation’s No. 1 lax hotbed, the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region, who will make their pre-existing verbal commitments to Division I and II college programs official by signing binding National Letters of Intent.

But we do expect one or more verbal commitments in the days/weeks to come from some highly recruited juniors from the region. So stay tuned for news on that.

Also, folks, be sure to send along any photos of players from the region signing Letters of Intent to us at info@laxlessons.com.

In the meantime, here’s a rundown of D-I recruits from the region, most of whom are expected to sign Letters of Intent this week. (Remember, not all D-I conferences are part of the NLI program, and the military academies and the Ivy League are not part of the NLI process. )

Nice rundown of all the D-1 commits…

  2. SirLaxalot says:

Agreed. Excellent job as always Joe.

  3. 13rock says:

Does New Fairfield not have any recruits?

    • Lax Novice says:

They may have Div 3 recruits, who are not subject to the Letters of Intent being signed by Div 1 laxers the next few days. But after being demolished in the Class M CT State finals by a school with many actual Div 1 recruits such as those listed above, New Fairfield will have to be content with watching tape of CJ winning the NCAAs for his Duke team, hoping they’ll develop another player remotely in his class.

      • 13rock says:

I know this is only D1, but I looked at the complete recruiting list, and they don’t have anyone on there, but I know they have to have some recruits. Does Laxlessons just not cover them for some reason? I mean they beat Fairfield Prep by 5 goals, and were ranked the #6 team in Connecticut on Laxpower.

        • Joe Lombardi says:

          13rock –

It’s a good point to bring up, given the Rebels’ success the last decade. As of now though, we have not received word of any D-I commitments from New Fairfield.

          • 13rock says:

Thanks Joe, any word on D3 recruits? Did they graduate a lot last year? How’d they make it to the state finals without some college recruits?

  4. Joe Lombardi says:

New Fairfield coach Marty Morgan told me tonight that there currently are no college committed players on the Rebels, regardless of class.

    • upstate lax says:

Thanks for the reporting Joe! They must have had a big senior class last year. Either that or they really play incredibly well together as a team, because they’re very good. I wouldn’t have expected no recruits though. Last year alone they beat Weston, Fairfield Prep, and Rye.

THanks for getting back to me so quickly Joe.
Looking at it though, Cheshire doesn’t have any D1 recruits either. And schools like Farfield prep, Weston, and New Canaan only have 1. Why do you think this is? Is Connecticut lax not as good? Besides Darien, who has a ridiculous amount of players going D1. I know a lot of players go D3, but in Section 1, we have JJ, LP, Town, Rye, Bronxville, and Somers all with more than 1 D1 recruit. Weston beat teams like Chaminade, Somers, Putnam Valley, Mahopac, and Ridgefield, so it’s not talent. Why the difference?

    • Lax Novice says:

It’s not that the Rebels don’t have good players, they have some guys with the ability to play in college, a few of the Class of 2010 are going to do that. They may well have a D1 player or two in their midst as well, the Ivy’s in particular are given to waiting until a guy’s senior year to determine whether the academics are there to support the lacrosse. So it’s no shame not to have anyone on this list. I simply hated the notion that people think Joe doesn’t follow or care about New Fairfield which was insinuated by the earlier poster. Few would even have heard of New Fairfield were it not for Joe’s diligent reporting. Div 3 committments for seniors will come out over the winter and in the spring, surely there will be some Rebels out there.

      • 13rock says:

Take it easy, I never criticized Joe. I was just wondering why they don’t have recruits up there. I know Joe does a wonderful job covering basically the whole tri-state(if you actually are supposed to cover the whole tri-state then you do a great job. I’m not sure about you covering NJ, that’s why i said basically.)

  5. SirLaxalot says:

Tremendous coverage all week long with more to come it sounds like. By far the best I’ve seen anywhere. Kudos!
