Finalists in the New York Public High School Athletic Association and in the New Jersey Tournament of Champions will be determined today.
In New York, state semifinals are being held in the West (St. John Fisher College) and East (at Middletown High School). A quick note – the east semis, which have been referred to in the past as the downstate semis, are now being called the East semis by state officials as well as LaxLessons because one of the teams involved, Albany, is hardly “downstate.”
The East semis, at Middletown HS, over the (Hudson) river and through the woods in Orange County, start at 3:30 p.m. as Cold Spring Harbor (Nassau County) takes on the first Pleasantville team to make a state semi since the Panthers’ field hockey team accomplished the feat in 2002.

A- Syosset vs. Niskakyuna , 5:30 p.m.
B- Manhasset vs. Yorktown, 8 p.m.

C- Cazenovia vs. Penn Yan, 3:30 p.m.
A- Pittsford vs. West Genessee, 5:30 p.m.
B- Victor vs. Jamesville-DeWitt, 8 p.m.

In New Jersey, a doubleheader of games at Kean University will determine Saturday’s finalists.
The matchups are:
No. 2 Bergen Catholic vs. No. 3 Summit, 5 p.m.
No. 1 Bridgewater-Raritan vs. No. 5 Pingry, 7:30 p.m.
