Massapequa won its first-ever downstate semifinal by cruising to a 23-7 rout of Section 2’s Niskayuna in a tripleheader on Wednesday, June 4 at Hofstra. Carter Hawthorne had three goals and four assists and Paul Dilena and Ian Kirby each had four goals and two assists for ‘Pequa, which plays Section 3’s Fayetteville-Manlius in the state championship game on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. back at Hofstra.

Class B

Yorktown advanced to the state title game for the first time since 2003 by pulling away to defeat Section 8’s Lynbrook 9-6. Mike Dedvukaj scored three times for the Huskers, who face Jamesville-DeWitt in Saturday’s Class B final at 1:30 p.m. at Hofstra. Ryan Baker and Connor Vercruysse each had two goals for Yorktown. Luke Palmadesso excelled in the faceoff X and Austin Graham made nine saves in goal.

Bronxville earned a return trip to the New York state championship game by pulling away to defeat Section 11’s Babylon in the downstate semi. Bronxville will play Cazenovia in the Class C state championship game for the second straight year on Saturday, June 7 at 4 p.m. at Hofstra. Henry Grass had five goals and three assists for the Broncos. Matt Behrens and Mike Crawford each had two goals and two assists.
