It’s county championship time in New Jersey.
Northern Highlands faces favorite Bergen Catholic for the Bergen County title at 5 p.m.
It will be Ridge vs. Pingry in the Somerset Conference semis.
Two of the tristate’s top Catholic school powers, Chaminade (NY) and Fairfield Prep (CT), will square off in a 1 p.m. game at Fairfield Prep.
Also in Connecticut, for the second straight Saturday, two of the top contenders in the FCIAC go head-to-head. Darien, which pulled out an overtime win over New Canaan this past Saturday, hosts Greenwich in a 1 p.m. showdown.
Yorktown and St. Anthony’s continue their Hudson Valley vs. Long Island rivalry when they meet in a high noon showdown in South Huntington.
It will be a border war between two of the top programs in the tristate when John Jay (NY) hosts Ridgefield (CT) at 7 p.m. John Jay is located in the hamlet of Cross River in the town of Lewisboro, which borders Ridgefield.
Emotions will also be running high as intra-district rivals Half Hollow Hills East and Half Hollow Hills West, who look to be evenly matched this year, meet at Hills East.
Same scenario in the Battle of Rye (NY) as Rye High School hosts Rye Country Day.
Two of the top contenders in Section 1 (NY) square off when Somers hosts Lakeland/Panas at 7 p.m.
It seems it’s always a close one when 2013 Section 1 (NY) finalist North Rockland and 2013 Connecticut Class S state champion Weston meet. They’ll do just that again at 10 a.m. at Wilton High School.
