New Jersey, come on down.

If the lacrosse season played out like “The Price is Right,” that’s what we’d all be hearing this morning.

After all, when it comes to the nation’s No. 1 lacrosse hotspot, Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island have gotten things started. Now, so too has much of the Hudson Valley.

Connecticut will be the last call – in early April.

LL2014HSGAMEDAYToday marks the opening of games in New Jersey.

Leading off,  Delbarton, the consensus top team in the state, hosts a Seton Hall Prep team that ended its season in the Tournament of Champions last year.

Don Bosco Prep, meanwhile, hosts Hun of Princeton at 4 p.m.

On Long Island, defending CHSAA champion Chaminade was outstanding in nearly all areas, including in the faceoff X, in a 10-5 win over 2013 consensus national champ Ward Melville.

In defending Nassau County Class A champ Massapequa, the Flyers will be matched up against one of Long Island’s best offenses. Should be an interesting matchup — and it’s the Chiefs’ opener.

Game-time is 4 p.m. on Chaminade’s newly refurbished Ott Field.

Out east, defending consensus national champion Ward Melville is chomping at the bit for a breakout offensive game after a frustrating opening loss at Chaminade. Sachem East is eager to show it will be in the mix in Suffolk Division 1. The teams meet at 4:30 p.m. at Sachem East.

West Islip, which was dethroned as Suffolk champs for the first time in 10 years last season, opens its season at home at 4:30 p.m. against Hauppauge.

Also of note in Suffolk, Smithtown East is at Riverhead, Half Hollow Hills East plays at Connetquot and Smithtown West visits Half Hollow Hills West.

It’s a light slate in Section 1. Among the games – two-time Class A champion Mamaroneck at Eastchester and Byram Hills at Kennedy Catholic at 4:30 p.m.
