* High School Scoreboard Central for Monday, March 24

The week is off to a roaring start.

In case you weren’t with us at our High School Scoreboard Central for Monday, March 24, there were several down-to-the-wire games played yesterday.

LL2014HSGAMEDAYDanny Grossman had four goals, including the winner, as 2013 Nassau County (N.Y.) Class A finalist Port Washington beat Nassau Class C champion Friends 8-7.

Ted Forst scored the winner in OT as Bronxville (N.Y.) downed Mamaroneck 13-12 in a matchup of defending Section 1 champions.

In a big clash between a team from the nation’s No. 1 hotspot for lacrosse, the NY/NJ/CT tristate region, and the sport’s proud and traditional home base, Baltimore, Trinity-Pawling (N.Y.) dealt Calvert Hall (Md.) its first setback, winning, 9-6.

Now, to today.

First, weather could factor into the mix. A Nor’easter is expected to bring 1-3 inches of snow to most of the tristate region and as much as 3 to 6 inches out east in parts of Suffolk County, with the precip expected to start sometime late in the afternoon.

Two of the top programs in Nassau County will be clashing head-to-head for the second straight day as Manhasset hosts Syosset under the lights at 7 p.m.

Turning to the Hudson Valley, Arlington has emerged as a contender in Section 1 Class A, a position Lakeland/Panas has enjoyed for decades. The Admirals beat LP for the first time ever last season, winning 8-7 almost a year ago to the day. The teams meet for the first time since then at 4:30 p.m. at Lakeland.

Back to LI, in a renewal of one of the Island’s top rivalries, Farmingdale hosts Lynbrook at 4:30 p.m.

In Suffolk, Shoreham-Wading River plays at Bayport-Blue Point at 4:30 p.m., marking the second game for new SWR coach Justin Arini, whose Wildcats won their opener, beating Greenport-Mattituck-Southold 18-3.

Comsewogue hosts Mount Sinai at 5:30 p.m.
