Brendan Kenny had a great deal of familiarity with Villanova University even before the recruiting process began.

That’s because the Delbarton School (N.J.) junior midfielder’s brother, Kieran, is a sophomore midfielder for the Wildcats.

Brendan will be following his brother’s path, having verbally committed to Villanova.

In addition, Kenny’s Delbarton teammate, T.J. Comizio, verballed to ‘Nova earlier this month.

The 5-foot-9, 155-pound Brendan Kenny is a speedy righty with excellent athleticism.

“I play fast and am able to separate from my defender to create shot opportunities for my teammates and myself,” Kenny said.

Kenny, who played for the Patriot Lacrosse travel team, attended Under Armour Shootout, NSCLA, Legacy, King of the Hill, Jersey Shootout and Villanova Top 150.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Brendan on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
Villanova was a perfect fit both athletically and academically. The Villanova Business School is one of the best in the U.S. It offers a top-notch education as well as a terrific coaching staff and team.

Villanova also gave me the tremendous opportunity to play with my brother, Kieran.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I strongly considered Notre Dame, Yale and Bucknell.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
I need to keep improving my stick skills, especially developing a strong left hand to become a threat both righty and lefty.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I have been playing lacrosse since fourth grade. In addition, I also played football and run track.

Any final thoughts?
I would like to thank my family for the support they have given me, especially my parents for putting up with my busy schedule. I also want to thank my coaches throughout my career at Mendham, Patriot lacrosse, and Delbarton.
