Comfort level with the campus and the program are often the key factors in a lacrosse recruit’s decision to verbally commit.

That was certainly the case with Kyle Quinn.

But there was another factor that was equally important for the rising senior at Kellenberg High School (N.Y.), who has decided on Marist College, as first reported last week at Twitter.com/Joe_Lombardi. The athletic midfielder cited the Red Foxes’ uptempo style as being a perfect fit for him.

Quinn’s quickness and speed make him especially adept at starting transition opportunities.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Kyle on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
I was looking for a school that I would fit into right away and also fit into their playing style. Marist plays a very fast-paced game and right after I visited, I knew it was the place for me.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I was also considering Fairfield, Providence, St. Joe’s and BU. I visited all of those except BU.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My speed and quickness. My style of play is very fast-paced and I love to start fast breaks.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
My defense.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
My parents had me playing lacrosse since I was in first grade, maybe even before.

The other sports I’ve played are basketball, football, soccer, hockey and baseball. I still play basketball at Kellenberg along with lacrosse.

What travel team did you play on last summer and what showcase events did you participate in?
Last summer, I played on LI Outlaws and we played in the Brine Shootout, MVP Camp and NYLA.
