The Kentucky Derby was held this past Saturday, and a phrase from that event holds true for high school lacrosse in the tristate.

Namely: “And down the stretch they come.”

LL_Game-Day-CROPPED16With college playoff action starting this week, the HS regular season has less than two weeks worth of games, so each game prior to the playoffs couldn’t be any bigger.

A pair of 2012 Section 1 champions — Mamaroneck (Class A) and Bronxville (Class C) — meet up in a 7 p.m. game at Mamaroneck.

Also at 7 p.m., White Plains, coming off a win vs. Mamaroneck, hosts New Rochelle, and Nanuet visits Tappan Zee. Scarsdale plays at Pelham at 4:30 p.m.

In a NY vs. NJ Catholic showdown, Iona Prep visits Don Bosco Prep at 4:30 p.m.

On Long Island, Massapequa (9-2) hosts Kellenberg (6-5) at Burns Park at 4:30 p.m. In Suffolk, West Hampton visits Miller Place at 4:30 p.m.

Fairfield Prep (6-4), coming off back-to-back losses to Delbarton and St. Anthony’s, hosts Amity (5-5). Also at 4 p.m. Wilton visits Fairfield Warde. Trumbull plays at Greenwich at 5 p.m. and Fairfield Ludlowe hosts Westhill at 7 p.m.

Rutgers Prep (12-1) hosts Montclair Kimberley Academy (7-8).

    Final: Scarsdale 3, Pelham 2

  2. Lax says:

Bronxville 9 mamo 8. Refs blew the game for mamo in the final 30 seconds of the game

    • slacrosse says:

Let me see. Mamo loses to White Plains and then almost beats Bville. Sure that makes sense, right!!

    • LacrosseFan says:

Bville has 5 more goals without the official’s bias. Be happy Mamo kept it close. At least it was a fun game to watch after last times 19-2 blowout.

      • Lax says:

Not even, Not sure where you are getting that from

        • Class ehh? says:

Refs took one off the board for B’Ville, and missed one that went in and bounced out, just two, not five! Regardless, Mamo played well. Take that momentum into the playoffs boys!

          • LowerWest says:

Whining about the refs takes away from what was a great game and takes away from the excellent play on the field by the players on both teams. Congrats to Bville for the W. Hoping this is the year they win it all. Mamo looked good last night. Hoping they can make another playoff run.

Final: Don Bosco Prep 13, Iona Prep 4
