A couple of matchups involving heavyweights from New Jersey and Connecticut highlight today’s high school schedule on a day that includes conference tournament semifinal games in the Big East and ECAC in college lacrosse.

LL_Game-Day-CROPPED16Mountain Lakes visits Don Bosco Prep in a Garden State matchup of 7-2 squads. You can watch the 4:30 p.m. encounter live on MSGVarsity.com.  The premiere telecast on MSG Varsity Channel 14 (Optimum) will be Monday, May 7 at 9:30 p.m.

In Connecticut, Greenwich (8-2) and New Canaan (9-1) renew their rivalry in a 4:30 p.m. game at New Canaan’s Dunning Stadium.

Red-hot Hen Hud (10-2), whose only losses have come against Yorktown and John Jay, visits 2012 Section 1 Class A finalist and 2011 sectional champion Mahopac (6-5) at 4:30 p.m. Hen Hud has won eight straight. John Jay (8-3) visits Rye (9-1) in a 5:30 p.m. showdown.

It’s a light day in Nassau County with just three games, including Garden City (8-3) hosting Calhoun (6-6) at 4:30 p.m.

In Suffolk, Smithtown East (10-1) hosts Walt Whitman (7-7) at 4:30 p.m., Smithtown West visits Connetquot at  4 p.m. and unbeaten Ward Melville hosts William Floyd at 4:15 p.m.

Also of note, Yorktown vaulted into the national rankings in a big way. Ridgefield and Shoreham-Wading River also broke through in the best in the country.
