We’ll know a lot more about how the Suffolk County Class A race shapes up after today.

Unbeaten Ward Melville (9-0) visits one of this season’s surprise teams, Northport (9-1), in a 4:30 p.m. game at Veterans Field in Northport.

LL_Game-Day-CROPPED16Smithtown West (8-2), coming off one-sided losses to Ward Melville and Northport, looks to bounce back when it hosts defending New York Class A state champion West Islip (7-2) at 5 p.m.

In Nassau County, Manhasset, which ends the week by visiting Garden City for the 123rd Woodstick Classic, hopes to bounce back from an 8-4 loss at John Jay when it plays at Plainedge. Also at 4:30 p.m., Long Beach hosts Massapequa. Cold Spring Harbor visits Syosset in a 4:45 p.m. contest.

Yorktown, which ends the week with a showdown against the tristate’s top-ranked team, Chaminade, hosts rival Somers at 7 p.m. at the new Charlie Murphy Field, which will be formally dedicated prior to the game. Also of note, rivals Rye and Harrison renew acquaintances at 6:30 p.m. at Harrison, Bronxville visits Pelham, Arlington visits Hen Hud and  Brewster hosts Clarkstown South.

Connecticut action is highlighted by a 5:30 p.m. game between host Staples, coming off its first-ever win against Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference champion New Canaan, hosts defending Class M state champion Darien. Also of note, Weston visits New Fairfield.

Elsewhere, unbeaten Ridgefield hosts Westhill and New Canaan visits a Fairfield Ludlowe team (3-2) that has taken Darien and Greenwich down to the wire in previous games.

New Jersey action includes a 4:30 p.m. contest between host Chatham and West Morris and 4:45 p.m. game between Ridge (7-1) and visiting Pingry.
