There’s an interesting mix of public and private schools games on today’s schedule.

Former Lakeland High School and Syracuse University All-American Ric Beardsley’s scheduled debut as head coach at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse was postponed by a lake-effect snow storm on Tuesday. So, today’s game against one of the state’s premier programs, Jamesville-DeWitt, will serve as Beardsley’s debut. The game will be played at 6 p.m. on the Red Rams’ turf field.

Also upstate, Penn Yan plays at Canandaigua and Irondequoit hosts Loyola Academy (Ill.).

Downstate in Section 1, Scarsdale plays at New Rochelle at 5 p.m., Nyack visits Byram Hills and North Salem hosts North Rockland at 4:30 p.m.

On Long Island, Cold Spring Harbor entertains Hicksville in a 4:30 p.m. game and Masspaequa hosts Wantagh at 6:30 p.m. at Burns Park. At 7 p.m., Long Beach visits Oceanside.

Section 1 meets the FCIAC as Blind Brook visits Danbury at 7 p.m.

In the prep ranks, Salisbury School (Conn.) hosts Berkshire School (Conn.).
