Who are the nation’s top boys lacrosse players heading into the 2013 season, which has already started in some parts of the country?

There’s no scientific formula, of course.sims

For instance, who gets the nod – a high-scoring attackman or a versatile two-way midfielder?

A star player on a contending program or a very good player on a championship team?

MaxPreps.com has taken a stab at ranking the best of the best in what MaxPreps Eastern U.S. Media Manager Jim Stout labeled a “sprawling team effort” by a panel of journalists throughout the nation.

It should come as no surprise that the tristate region is well-represented, with players such as Justin Guterding of Garden City (above) and Austin Sims of Fairfield Prep (right), making the list.

You can check out the rankings here.

Good to see so many players from different states – not just NY and MD – represented.

This is a great and accurate list of players. It is difficult to judge the talent level of players from other states because of the caliber of play each state / team really has, but you have done it perfectly. Same goes for team rankings, there are a lot out there, but digitalsports.com probably has the best in terms of national rankings.
