Arlington’s boys lacrosse team is in the midst of a rapid rise and one of there are two initials that are among the reasons that the Admirals have risen to title-contender status in New York’s Section 1 Class A.

As in JD Colarusso.
The last line of defense, the senior goaltender has helped Arlington enjoy back-to-back 11-win seasons.
After this coming season, he will be headed to the University at Albany. Colarusso will be joined at Albany by teammate Dan Hanson, a senior midfielder.
Now, here are JD’s thoughts on the upcoming season.
What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
I have been doing a lot of things to prepare. Every day of the week I get shot on by my goalie coach, also known as my dad (former Yorktown High School goaltender Joe Colarusso).
I have a personal weight and conditioning coach that I go to three times a week.
As a team, we having conditioning at least three times a week run by the captains.
How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
We have a lot of good games this year as always. We always try to play very good teams during the season that will hopefully get us ready for sectionals.
We start off with some really tough opponents such as Lakeland/Panas, John Jay-Cross River, Mahopac and Somers.
In the middle of our season, we have games against Hen Hud, Brewster, Wappingers and Suffern.
Then, lastly, we will play Yorktown and Putnam Valley, which is great for us.
The games I’m looking forward to most are Mahopac, Lakeland/Panas, Wappingers, Somers and Putnam Valley. I’m looking forward to all these games because this is my senior season and I won’t be playing these teams ever again.
It’s not definite yet, but we are trying to get scrimmages against Shaker and Warwick Valley.
What player or players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
Brendan Sunday, a sophomore (who has committed to Towson University), will surprise a lot of people this season. As a freshman, he had a excellent year and hopefully will have a better sophomore year.
Kyle Dingman and Dan Hanson are two other players to watch out for this year. They will be running the midfield unit and expect big things from them this year.
Lastly, Joey Duckham, Shane Hyde and Kyle Espejo will be the players to watch on defense.
What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
The strength of our team will be the defense. We are the returning two out of the three defensemen, our longstick middie, and also the goalkeeper. We also have a lot of chemistry on the defensive side as well. We have been playing together since the third and fourth grade.
How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
I think our league will be very tough this year. I feel like we have a very good chance to do well in our league. Brewster, Putnam Valley, Hendrick Hudson and Wappingers are all going to be good opponents. These were all very close games last year so this year will be very interesting.
