It’s been a busy stretch for sophomore commits. In just the last week, we told you about three of them: Mountain Lakes (N.Y.) midfielder Brad Smith (Duke), Arlington (N.Y.) attackman/midfielder Brendan Sunday (Towson) and Trinity-Pawling (N.Y.) attackman Thomas Bianchin (Providence).

Chalk up another one.

For this commitment, we head out to western New York, just outside Rochester, where Webster Thomas High School standout Kevin Hill has made announced his intentions to attend Penn State.

The 5-foot-10,  170-pound midfielder plays am athletic, physical and aggressive brand of lacrosse and is adept at pushing the ball in transition, as evidenced by his highlight reel.

Hill had 18 goals, 11 assists and 14 groundballs for the Titans last year. It was the second-highest total for a freshman playing on a Section 5 varsity team last season. He then went on to make the all-star team at the Battle of the Hotbeds Tournament.

In addition, he is a High Honor Roll student.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Kevin on his commitment. recruiting_update

What were the main factors in your decision?
I wanted a great academic school and wanted a big time school atmosphere.

(Head) Coach (Jeff) Tambroni and the coaching staff really made me feel comfortable at Penn State and I knew it was the right fit for me.

Also, on my visit, I got to meet some of the guys on the team and they talked to me about what it was like to be a lacrosse player at Penn State University and I really wanted to be a part of that.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I considered Ohio State, Binghamton, Cornell and Syracuse. I visited Ohio State Binghamton and Syracuse.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
Seeing the field and finding the open guy. Dodging from up top and the wings and shooting with my feet set and on the run.

I would describe my style of play as aggressive and physical and trying to push transition when I can.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
My dad bought me a lacrosse stick when I was in second or third grade and then I started playing organized lacrosse and just fell in love with the game.

I have also been playing basketball since a very young age and play on the JV team currently.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
My biggest influences have been my youth lacrosse coaches for teaching me the fundamentals of the game and helping me improve my game. My dad has also been a very big influence with his advice and encouragement throughout the years.

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
My travel team is the Sweetlax 2015 team. With Sweetlax, I participated in the Big 4 Tournament in Philadelphia and Uplax in Annapolis.

I also played on the Section 5 Upstate Rising 2015 team.

With my Webster Thomas High School team, I participated in the Hotbeds Tournament at the University of Delaware where I made the 2015 all-star team.
