Can Bronxville three-peat?

That will be one of the major storylines entering the season in Section 1 in New York, where the Broncos have won back-to-back Class C titles.

Bronxville beat Hen Hud 12-6 in last year’s sectional title game after defeating Byram Hills 15-6 ion the 2011 final.

The Broncos advanced to the state semifinals both seasons, losing to eventual state champion Shoreham-Wading River 11-2 last year and to Bayport-Blue Point 9-8 in 2011.

For a first look at Bronxville in 2013, we turn to senior Brewster Warble.

Warble, who has committed to attend Brown University, is a speedy and athletic midfielder who is adept at creating one-on-one scoring chances and who excels in transition.

Now, here are Brewster’s perspectives on the upcoming season.11-300x150

What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
We played a few fall tournaments to keep our sticks sharp and have installed a new conditioning program focused on injury prevention.

How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
(Bronxville Head) Coach (Tim) Horgan was able to schedule some of Hudson Valley’s strongest programs. In addition to playing Lakeland-Panas, Somers, and Mahopac again, we have added both John Jay and Yorktown to our schedule this year.

I played summer ball with a bunch of the John Jay players, so I’m really looking forward to seeing them at their place under the lights. We will also be scrimmaging Greenwich High School.

What player or players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
Junior midfielder Will Duncan is going to have a killer year. Last spring, he made the transition from attack to midfield, so now he will have a much better understanding of the position and be very productive.

Freshman Reilly Walsh and junior Matt Behrens will step up to fill the last attack spot next to the Grass brothers (Hopkins University-bound Jack and Henry Grass), who never cease to amaze.

Our defense is led by seniors Cyrus Adamiyatt and Jack Deasy, two of the most consistent defenders in the section. Sophomore Charlie Tarry will definitely step up this year on defense too. He is a versatile athlete and our shutdown defenseman.

A name that is going to be repeated a lot this year is Eric Pass, our senior goalie. Eric is hardworking and comes up big when we need him most. Nothing is better than having a goalie you can trust behind you.

What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
I think our depth is an under-appreciated asset. We have over 50 kids trying out for varsity and are stacked at every position. Preseason will be a battle for starting jobs.

I’m sure teams will try to lock off our top players but that will create opportunities for the younger guys to step up.

We only graduated two starters from last year’s team, so we have senior leadership combined with some good young talent.

How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
Mamaroneck had that awesome run last spring to win the section last year. I expect they will be tough competition this year.

No question Bville starters present a potent offense and they have a strong goalie. Don’t know the D that well but if it is solid and if the team does have some quality depth, then with the very strong schedule they’ve lined up , I feel they’ll have the talent and be “tough game” ready to have a real chance to win the Class C State championship. One other caveat for the team’s success is who they have to replace the very strong FO kid that graduated.

Great open field player, question his a ability to score in the half field and to create a goal for himself.
