Former West Islip star Nicky Galasso’s Syracuse University lacrosse debut is on hold.

The junior attackman, who transferred to SU after obtaining his release from the University of North Carolina in October, will miss the entire 2013 season with an injury.

Another former tristate standout attackman who transferred to SU, former John Jay All-American Mike Daniello, who completed his freshman year at Johns Hopkins in 2012, will also miss the season for medical reasons.

Here is the entire text of a press release on Galasso sent by Syrcause’s Athletic Communications Department moments ago.

Junior attackman Nicky Galasso (West Islip, N.Y.) will miss the upcoming 2013 college lacrosse season due to a lower-body injury that will require surgery.

Galasso transferred to Syracuse in earlier this month after spending two seasons at North Carolina. He recorded 65 points (30 goals, 35 assists) in his two seasons with the Tar Heels, including 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) as a rookie in 2011 on his way to ACC Freshman of the Year honors.
