It’s what every recruit hopes for when making a college visit.

Brian Harris found it when he visited Springfield College.

The defenseman from 2012 New York State Class B semifinalist Yorktown High School said he “felt that instant comfort” when walking around campus.

So it should come as no surprise that Springfield will be Harris’ college destination.

Harris becomes the seventh Husker senior and 10th YHS player overall to make a college commitment.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Harris is technically sound defender with a strong lacrosse IQ.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Brian on his commitment.recruiting_update

What were the main factors in your decision?
There were many factors, but I really felt at home at Springfield.  The school, the team, the facilities were what I was looking for. I felt that instant comfort with the team, the coach, and the school.

What other schools were you considering? And what other schools did you visit?
I considered Cabrini, St. Joseph’s, Tampa and Stevenson. I visited, Cabrini, Tampa and St. Josephs.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style as a player?
My strengths are the ability to communicate well and to clear the ball. My playing style is fast-paced and quick to get done whatever’s needed.

Who have been some of your biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
Growing up in the Yorktown lax program has been amazing.  My foundation came from  my youth coaches including, Tim Schurr, Todd McElduff, Steven McElduff, Brian Dooley, Vin D’Andraia and, of course, my high school coaches, Dave Marr, Sean Carney, Adam Lodewick, Rob Doerr and Dave Graham. (Lodewick left YHS this past fall to take over as athletic director at Hastings High School.)

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
Yorktown Ballers.  Together we played the Maverik Big Time Shoot Out, SU Lax, Yale Bulldog, Shorham and Rutgers tournaments.
