“Strong” Island completed a sweep of the New York state champions with West Islip (Class A), Garden City (Class B) and Shoreham-Wading River (Class C) all winning titles.

In Connecticut, New Canaan surprised many by winning the FCIAC championship.

Mamaroneck, which lost eight games in a row during the regular season, stunned the Hudson Valley region by winning its first Section 1 Class A title.

In New Jersey, Bridgewater-Raritan won the Tournament of Champions title for the second straight year.

St. Anthony’s won its fourth straight CHSAA Class AAA title by edging Chaminade in a battle of nationally ranked powers.

To be sure, there were plenty of memorable moments on the tristate boys lacrosse scene in 2012.

    Sectional final was a scare but Town prevails in OT over JJ.

    In terms of drama the Yorktown – John Jay sectional OT sectional final was one of the best games I’ve seen in a while.
