Chris Blewitt has been an impact player at the varsity level since his freshman season.

Now a junior at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J., Blewitt is a playmaking attackman with strong stick skills, a high lacrosse IQ and field vision.

Soon, Blewitt could be an impact player at the next level.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound righty has verbally committed to St. Joseph’s University.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Chris on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
When choosing a college, I was looking for a school with a strong business program. SJU certainly has a very reputable business school. Another factor, of course, was the lacrosse program. SJU has really pushed for change in their lacrosse program.

(St. Joseph’s Head) Coach (Taylor) Wray and his staff did a terrific job taking over the program. The school is really taking all the necessary steps to become a big-time lacrosse program.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Bryant, Providence, Boston University and Amherst were all schools I was strongly considering. I got a chance to visit Amherst, Providence, and Bryant.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
As a player, my strongest points are my stick skills, vision and lacrosse IQ. I like to think of myself as a playmaker.

What areas of your game have you been working to improve on?
In the off season, my main focus will be improving my first step. I also want to improve my low angle shooting efficiency and my inside finishing.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
Growing up, my biggest influence in lacrosse was my older brother (Tim, who played attack at DePaul Catholic in Wayne, N.J.). He was the one introduced me to the game. We’ve played our best lacrosse out in the backyard. He really helped develop my game early on.

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
This summer, I competed with Tri-State. We went to the Baltimore Summer Kickoff, Champ Camp and Tri-State National. I also went to Top 205, Super Sophs and the Good to Great Showcase.
