Zach Schwartz should make a big impact at the next level.

Literally.

The Harborfields (N.Y.) senior midfielder is 6-foot-4.

But size isn’t his only attribute.

“I also consider my speed and lacrosse IQ some of my strengths as a midfielder,” Schwartz said.

Those talents will be on display in his final varsity season with the Tornadoes next spring. Then, after that, at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., located 25 miles north of Boston.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Zack on his college choice.

What were the main factors in your decision?
When I went up for my visit at Endicott, I felt like I was part of the lacrosse family. I also believe that (Endicott Head) Coach (Sean) Quirk can help me reach the peak of my game and have a impact on Division III lacrosse.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
The University of Richmond, Plattsburgh and Stevenson.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I feel that my size always gives me and advantage when I dodge. I also consider my speed and lacrosse IQ some of my strengths as a midfielder.

What areas of your game have you been working to improve on?
I am always trying to improve my stick skills and on the run shot when I go out and practice also my defense.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
Both of my parents because they have always supported me and have taking me whenever I had a game or tournament.

Also, my new high school coach, Rich Petillo. This is his first season as our head varsity coach and during the offseason, he has already helped me elevate my game in so many ways.  I am very thankful that I have the opportunity to play for him.

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
I played for the LI Outlaws and LI Express, some showcase events I attended were U-15 National Tournament, Baltimore Kickoff, Tri State, and Elite 100.

  1. Just Wondering says:

Congratulations on your commitment. Just wondering how a rising senior played on a U-15 team this past summer? Was it the express team that won the U-15
    national championship?

  2. LI says:

It just says past events he attended. Does not mean it was last year.

  3. Really? says:

The last two words of the question say “last summer ?”

  4. LI Guy says:

Sounds like a great job by Endicott targeting and getting him to commit.
