Peter Lindley is among the most versatile juniors in the tristate region.

The Darien (Conn.) attackman is equally effective as either a finisher or feeder, has outstanding stick skills and good field vision.

After a strong summer in which he performed well at several showcase events, the 6-foot, 160-pound Lindley’s recruiting stock continue to rise.

In the end, Lindley picked the program whose offensive system best suits his talent, and a college which offers a degree in his prospective major, Sports Management.

The choice: UMass.

Now, here’s a Q&A with Peter on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
First, I really liked (Head) Coach (Greg) Cannella and (Assistant coach Doc) Schneider and I want to be  part of their competitive lax program that they have built.

I liked their approach to the game, which is an up-tempo, fast-paced style offense which I think I will thrive in.

Also, UMass has the best Sport Management School in the nation and that is what I intend on studying.

recruiting_updateWhat other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Other schools I considered were High Point, Michigan, Loyola, Fairfield, Hofstra and Rutgers.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths are my stick skills, shot, feeding, vision and finishing ability.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
Two of my youth coaches for Darien Youth Lax have been my biggest influences. Mr. Kevin Waldron and Mr . Rich Van den Broek. They coached me several times over the years and they always believed in me and encouraged me to play my best always. Also, my mom (Lisa) and uncles all paved the way for me and I have big shoes to fill as they were all All-Americans.
