The Maverik Showtime National Recruiting Spotlight has emerged as one of the major events on the summer calendar during its five-year history.

Beginning next summer, girls players will also be in the spotlight.

Maverik Showtime Lacrosse has announced the launch of the inaugural invitation-only “Girls National Recruiting Spotlight” on June 24-27, 2013 at Western Connecticut State University, in Danbury, Conn.

Following the same format as the nationally recognized boys Showtime event, rising sophomore (Class of 2016) and junior (Class of 2015) girls lacrosse players will have the opportunity to showcase their individual skills in front of some of the top Divison I, II and III coaches in the country.   In its five-year history, the Maverik Showtime National Recruiting Spotlight has emerged as one of the major events on the summer calendar.

“Our goal is to provide girls with a unique platform to showcase their skill alongside and in front of some of the top players and college coaches in the country,” said Aly Josephs, a three-time National Champion at Northwestern University and women’s product line manager at Maverik Lacrosse.  “We are confident that the Girls Showtime event will quickly become the top girls recruiting showcases, as it has for the men’s.”

Over the last five years the boys Maverik Showtime Lacrosse National Recruiting Spotlight event at WestConn has quickly become the nation’s premier college recruiting showcase events with 95 percent of the top college programs in attendance (49 of the top 50 programs with represented in 2012).

Unlike other camps and events, Maverik Showtime Lacrosse Girls National Recruiting Spotlight is a game-only format.  Players will have the opportunity to be instructed and individually assessed by coaches from top Division I, II and III programs.

Showtime Lacrosse is also committed to helping participants become the best student-athletes they can be.  In 2012, the Boys Showtime Lacrosse event added a new component to the experience by bringing in guest speakers to talk about strength and conditioning, mental preparation, and lacrosse specific training to help players elevate their game to the highest level.

The Maverik Showtime Lacrosse National Recruiting Spotlight is the brain child of ESPN color commentator Paul Carcaterra, Joe Ceglia and Mike Springer, who all achieved All-American and National Championship careers at Syracuse University.  Paul, Joe, and Michael have teamed up with Josephs  to create the girls event.  All four of Showtime’s directors have stayed immersed in the game of lacrosse as coaches at the high school and collegiate rants, nationally recognized camp directors, broadcasters, and professional lacrosse players.

  1. Girl Power says:

With the growth of the girl’s game just a matter of time this happened. Good to see.

  2. Observer Lax says:

While this is obviously a business decision on the part of Maverik and Showtime to generate revenue, still a nice opportunity for the girls to get exposure.
