We had three major commitments today involving a rising seniors (Wilton’s Ted Ottens/Brown), rising sophomore (Brunswick’s Lazare Zoungrana /Virginia) and rising junior (Chaminade’s Matthew Wysota/Villanova).

We will be getting Ottens’ thoughts on his choice, and already heard from Zoungrana, a New Rochelle resident, in this story.

Now, it’s Wysota’s turn.

Wysota is a 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed defenseman known for his all-out style of play.

Now, let’s get his thoughts on his decision:

What were the main factors in your decision?
The most important factor in my decision was going to a school that really wanted me and where I felt at home and that was Villanova. Villanova also has great academics which compliments its success on the lacrosse field. The people as well as the location of the school really fit well for me and seemed like a perfect match.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Some other schools I was interested in were Princeton, Georgetown and Maryland.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I focus on being a leader on the field and try to play an aggressive style of lacrosse.

What areas of your game have you been working to improve on?
I have been working on body positioning as well as a stronger left hand.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
Two of my biggest influences as I continue to develop as a player are my high school coach, coach Jack Moran, and my first ever lacrosse coach, coach Kevin Cook, who molded me into a well rounded lacrosse player. Not to mention constant support from all of my family and friends who have always guided me in the right direction.

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
I played for the Long Island Express. I attended Blue Chip, the national club championship in Delaware, as well as Tri-state and the Brine Shootout in Maryland.
