Why can’t uconn have a top tier lax program??any fairfield county guys know??

  3. Lax Novice says:

Because there’s been no support for it from the administration. They had a varsity program years ago and there are some alumni from that Yankee Conference era who still lobby the athletic department. FYI the new AD at UConn, Warde Manuel, was most recently the AD at SUNY-Buffalo, the only SUNY university center with no men’s lacrosse program, the others being Albany, Binghamton and Stony Brook.

They have lots of other priorities to get solved up in Storrs, such as the decline of the men’s basketball program, King Football, and other issues that have diminished alumni support recently; those are going to push establishing a men’s lax program at UConn from the back burner to the closet in the short term.

There is only one guy in Seton Hall Prep’s section! They are only 5 more teams in the tri-state that have more commits than them! They just beat THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE NATION, lost to St. Ignatius by one because of a broken stick in overtime, played an awful scrimmage and went down to Malvern 11-6, previously lost to Delbarton by 1, lost to Chatham by one in overtime, they are NJ Essex county champs. The colleges that are on that list should be along the likes of: Cornell (2), Drew, High Point, Bucknell, Colgate, Stevens, Army, Lehigh, and a bunch of other fantastic juniors who will be locked up soon. They should be talked about as one of the best team in the nation. They are the real deal, especcialy the current seniors.
