Congrats to Matt Shmidt. Ohio State got themselves a good one!
Why can’t uconn have a top tier lax program??any fairfield county guys know??
Title 9?
Because there’s been no support for it from the administration. They had a varsity program years ago and there are some alumni from that Yankee Conference era who still lobby the athletic department. FYI the new AD at UConn, Warde Manuel, was most recently the AD at SUNY-Buffalo, the only SUNY university center with no men’s lacrosse program, the others being Albany, Binghamton and Stony Brook.
They have lots of other priorities to get solved up in Storrs, such as the decline of the men’s basketball program, King Football, and other issues that have diminished alumni support recently; those are going to push establishing a men’s lax program at UConn from the back burner to the closet in the short term.
Cortland Heneveld, an athletic rising junior midfielder from East Hampton, has just verbally committed to Navy. Be sure to check back for more.
The brand-new program at Boston U. has received a commitment from one of the best defenders in CT: rising senior Quinn Mendelson of Staples. Be sure to check back for more.
Ridgefield rising junior midfielder Will Bonaparte verbally committed today to Maryland. He was also recruited by Hopkins, Navy and Syracuse. Be sure to check back for more from Will on his commitment.
We have another D-I commit from two-time Connecticut state title finalist Ridgefield. Rising sr. attackman Brett Baker is bound for Bryant. Check back for Brett’s thoughts on his decision.

Somers rising senior midfielder Chris Marasco has decided on Western New England. He will become the fourth member of his family to play lax at the next level, joining brothers Matt (Army) and JoJo (Syracuse) and sister Katie (La Salle). Check back for more.
For the second year in a row, Rutgers has landed a commitment from a defensive standout from Yorktown. Rising senior Jack Phelan verbally committed to coach Brian Brecht’s Scarlet Knights program. Eric Cooley, who graduated from YHS this past spring, will be a freshman at RU this fall. Be sure to check back for Jack’s thoughts on his commitment.
Defender Lazare Zoungrana of the Brunswick School (CT) has become the tristate’s third rising sophomore to commit, verbally committing to Virginia. Be sure to check back for Lazare’s thoughts on his commitment.
Danny Dolan, a rising junior goaltender from Garden City, has verbally committed to UMass. Be sure to check back for more from Danny on his commitment.
Congrats to rising senior midfielder Ted Ottens of Wilton (CT). The faceoff midfielder extraordinaire has committed to Brown. Be sure to check back for more from Ted on his commitment.

Riley Hoffman, a rising senior defenseman for defending CT Class L state champion Fairfield Prep, has committed to Williams College.
Rising senior attackman Kevin Lewis of Delbarton (N.J.) has verballed to Lafayette.
Midfielder/faceoff specialist Luke Palmadesso has become the second member of a talented Yorktown (NY) rising junior class to make a college commitment, verballing to Villanova, Joe just reported at Twitter.com/joe_lombardi. Syracuse-bound LSM Austin Fusco is the other YHS junior who has committed. Check back for more from Luke on his commitment.
