It’s one of the most impressive streaks in high school sports anywhere.

The fact that it’s been accomplished while playing in one of the nation’s most competitive conferences makes it even more impressive.

West Islip won a Suffolk County championship for the ninth straight year yesterday, outlasting rival Ward Melville in the Class A title game at Stony Brook University. The Lions will now face Nassau champion Syosset for the Long Island title on Saturday.
