It was Telltale Tuesday in the FCIAC on both the boys and girls sides of things.

In girls action, New Canaan, Sarah Mannelly’s five goals won its seventh straight against rival Greenwich, beating the visiting Cardinals 12-10 in a matchup of 12-0 teams. Will they meet again in FCIAC playoffs?

That’s the question we’re also asking after last night’s Darien-Ridgefield boys showdown, in a matchup of teams each with one loss overall and unbeaten in the FCIAC.

Darien, which won 14-11, built an early 4-0 lead and held off the Tigers as Henry West had four goals and two assists, Peter Lindley four goals, Case Matheis two goals and five assists, Tim Murphy two goals and two assists and Phil Huffard 16 saves.

In Section 1, defending Section 1 Class A champion Mahopac snapped a five-game losing streak by beating Suffern 10-8.

Now, to today.

The Long Island schedule is highlighted by a 4:30 p.m. game between the nation’s top-ranked team, unbeaten Garden City (14-0) and host Wantagh (12-2),

In Suffolk, Comsewogue visits Hauppauge at 7 p.m., Sayville visits Huntington and Islip hosts Shoreham-Wading River at 4:30 p.m.

A relatively light Section 1 schedule is highlighted by 4:30 p.m. games between visiting Bronxville and Scarsdale, host Pelham and New Rochelle and visiting Sleepy Hollow and Ardsley, a 7 p.m. contest between White Plains and host Mamaroneck and 5 p.m. encounter between Route 9 rivals Dobbs Ferry and host Irvington.

In Connecticut, fresh off its stunning win over previously unbeaten Chaminade, Fairfield Prep (10-2) hosts Branford (6-6) at 4 p.m. at Fairfield University’s Alumni Field.

Bridgewater-Raritan takes a 12-0 record into its game today against Rutgers Prep (9-4), highlighting the New Jersey slate.

  1. Laxn says:

    Picks:

    GC 12, Wantagh 7

    Bronxville 11, Scarsdale 5

    White Plains 9, Mamo 7

  2. Bronco Bob says:

Bronxville on top of the Dalers 7-0 at HT!

    • Bronco Bob says:

10-0 is your final. Bronxville wins!

      • Bronco Blah Blah says:

no one cares bc Bronxville doesnt play anyone.

        • Relax says:

They have already split games w/ L/P & ‘PAC w/ a game vs Somers on 5/14. You must be thinking of last yr. This season they play 3 of Sect.1’s better teams. When they get to the Downstste finals & play the LI champion like they did last yr, your comment will look even more FOOLISH

          • Bronco Blah Blah says:

Relax, 3 games out of 16. Wow they went all out to find the best out of conference teams. U should wash the Bronco dribble from your chin.

          • lax says:

unfortunately there league is full of teams that aren’t up to their level but they must play because once again they are in the same league. Other than that all of their out of league games consist of Somers, LP, Pac, and New Fairfield who im sure they expected to be more competitive then their game. They clearly have tried to improve their competition but can only do so much in such a subpar league.

          • Relax says:

Lax: No Use trying to explain things to blah blah. He’s a bville hater thru & thru. Anyone who remembers my comments Fr last yr will remember how Hard I was on the Broncos for NOT playing anyone. They won my approval this yr by scheduling tougher teams then Fordham Prep like last yr. They’ve got the most talent in C & will be Sect.1 Champs again like last yr. Hopefully, along the way they will Demolish whatever team blah blah likes in C. The ville’s been able to get better teams to play because of how good they were last yr. I predict they’ll get even better teams to play in the future. They need to continue building the program thru their Youth Lax Association. They’ll be FINE. I’m not so sure about blah blah. He’s in needs some LEARNIN

          • slacrosse says:

Agree with “lax” below. Not as easy as it may seeem to start loading up with lots of tough out of league games and at least Bville has 3 of them this season.

That being said if I were “Bronco Bob” I’d totally play down or not even mention these expected easy wins vs very under-matched teams (scores will come out)type comments. Concentrate on the results of the 3 “name” games and particularly the upcoming Somers game which Bville watchers are really interested in. These are the only games on Bville’s schedule which will be telling as to how they might fare vs their LI counterpart should Bville get there.

          • Relax says:

He’s in need of some serious LEARNIN. Typo & lack of proof reading w/ the iPhone. A better way of putting it is, “he knows not what he speaks”

          • Relax says:

Slacrosse: Youre probably right about bronco bob’s excitement over blanking S-dale. Somers on Mon.5/14 will be a game to get excited about. If the ville can get a W vs the tuskers it’ll be something to write about. He’s just reporting a score. Tell you what though, only ‘town would of stood a chance against the 2 teams I watched today. There’s a BIG gap between GC & Wantagh compared w/ sect.1 those kids were good. I think ‘town could take Wantagh but GC’s another story. Thing is ‘town should get a chance & if they play like they did vs Darien I think they have a chance. What do you think of Quick:60’s ranking for ‘town? He puts Darien at 7 & R-field at 8 but ‘town at 11. No top 10 for Sect.1’s finest. He’s a real CT Homey

        • laxr says:

Relax – I think that 11 is fair for Town right now. They have one very good win against Darien, and two blowout losses. I think you could make the argument they belong above Ridgefield, but not Darien. Yes they won the head to head, but Darien has a lot of quality wins, and their overall resume is stronger than Town’s.

          • slacrosse says:

Agree. Can’t solely look at Town’s win vs Darien but rather the quality and number of wins vs top teams which for both teams which as of now gives the advantage to Darien.

  3. Relax says:

5-5 beginning 2nd half Wantagh/GC these goalies are incredible Fitzpatrick Stops Dwyer on the doorstep. He as 8 saves. GC hits the top crossbar 6mins into 3rd. Followed by a HUGE hit by Wantagh. Incredible action. GC gets an emo goal Fr Berkery on a rocket 6-5 GC 5:13 left in 3rd. Another emo for GC 3:31 George Fr Dwyer. 7-5 GC 3:15 left GC scores again 2:47 left in 3rd 8-5. GC is 3 for 4 on emo’s in the game. GC hits crossbar again at 1:28. Timeout Wantagh 1:07 left in 3rd Berkery scores w/ 8secs left in 3rd on a power move Fr behind. 9-5 after 3.

  4. Relax says:

Liam Kennedy a minute into 4th 10-5. Zero defense on last 2 GC goals. Both goals especially Kennedy’s they just let them come around Fr behind. GC intercepts the clear & scores 11-5. Emo for Wantagh 7:27 to go. GC intercepts a pass clears the ball & picks up an emo 6:16 left. Wantagh fouls again 2men down Savage scores 12-5 5:35 left. 7 goals in 18mins.it’s been 9 straight goals since Wantagh had a 5-3 lead in the 1st half. Wantagh can’t cash-in a 5 on 4 emo 2:20 left. GC’s #1 in the country for a reason. They burn clock w/ an emo instead of making it 13-5. Classy 12-5 victory

  5. LaxLessons.com says:

    Final: Huntington 11, Sayville 7

  6. LaxLessons.com says:

    Final: Trinity-Pawling 16, Choate 9

    • Relax says:

Nice Job! T-P is now 8-5 overall & 3-1 in the Founders League. If they can sweep Hotchkiss, Kent & Taft in their last 3 games & Hotchkiss beats Westminster, T-P will win the Founders League. Get Er Done!!

  7. Laxit says:

Irvington beats Dobbs 11-10! Nice win for Bulldogs lacrosse and Coach Werney.

  8. slacrosse says:

    Relax,

Agree that quality of best LI teams above that of Section 1. That being said if Town plays at the very top of their game, they are good enough to have a shot at upsetting Garden City. They almost did it last season in the play-offs losing a close one 10-8.

  9. sommom says:

Does anyone have the result of the White Plains vs. Mamk game?

    • South of 287 says:

Tigers v. Tigers last night; Mamo lost 9-7. close game though out with a couple of iffy calls in 4th Q against Mamo.

Mamo played without 2 starters all season including Sr. D1 goalie (Danehy – Colgate) and then lost top offensive player for last half of season (M – Conley – G’Town).

Young team with all starters coming back except Danehy and more talent in the pipeline – expect good things next 4 seasons.

      • slacrosse says:

Yeah tough break on injuries. Nice to see Mamo get the lax program up to or close to the level of ice hockey/baseball at some point.
