It was an eventful week for the Eastchester Eagles.

Senior attackman Tom Cirillo set a school record for goals in a game with nine.

And classmate Pat Guido, a defenseman, decided on his college destination.

“The main factors in deciding on Manhattanville were the strong academic programs that they offer,” Guido said. I really liked the team and Coach (Kevin) Warnock.  I also like the campus, particularly the castle (in the center of campus).

Guido also considered Albright and Fairleigh Dickinson.

“I did overnights at all three which was really helpful in making a decision.”

Guido’s style of play is marked by his speed.

“My strength as a player is my speed,” he said. “I’m able to pick up a lot of ground balls during a game.  I am good at sliding and laying body on slides throughout  the game.  I am always working on refining the skills I already have.  I am working on improving my weak hand.

Guido, who played this past summer at the Yale, Lehigh and UMass showcases, said his coaches and teammates at Eastchester have played a big role in his development.

“Some of the biggest influences in my development as a player are my current coach, Larry Petriccione and assistant coach Elan Keyman,” he said. “My good friend and another defender for Eastchester, Ed Suriano, has always been there training with me both on and off season.

“During practice, I have been playing against Tom Cirillo who always challenges me.  Going against him has made me a better player.

“All the other guys on the team have definitely contributed towards my development as a player. Last but not least, I want to thank my parents for always helping me and being there for support.”
