As you would expect, with the observance of Good Friday and Passover beginning at sundown, today is a light day.

One game that bears watching is in the prep school ranks.

National power Salisbury (Conn.) visits a Berkshire School (Mass.) team that is fresh off a game against Deerfield(Mass.).

There was no shortage of big games on Thursday.

In Round 1 of the Chaminade-St. Anthony’s annual best-of-three series, it was a game of runs.

The Flyers, who took both regular-season meetings last year before falling in the CHSAA final to St. Anthony’s for the third straight year, prevailed 6-5.

Chaminade won it on a goal by University of Virginia-bound attackman Ryan Lukacovic with 2:08 remaining. Prior to that, Lukacovc, guarded mainly by Binghamton-hound George Deignan, had been held scoreless.

After St. Anthony’s took a 1-0 lead in the opening seconds, Chaminade got goals from five different players, including two long poles, to take. 5-1 lead.

The Friars, playing without two key starters – goalie Kieran Burke (mono) and LSM/defenseman Tim Stackpole (broken hip) – rallied to tie it at 5-5 late in the fourth, as the Flyers endured a long scoring drought. UNC-bound midfielder Brin Sherlock had three goals during the run.

Be sure to check back for photos from the game.

In another down-to-the-wire finish, Brunswick (Conn.) outlasted Penn Charter (Pa.) 10-9.

The win was especially sweet for the Bruns, who had already lost two OT games this young season.

One of the biggest showdowns this weekend will be the FCIAC contest between defending Class M state champion Wilton and 2010 FCIAC champion Greenwich on Saturday.

…wondering if I should jump on the Croton Tigers bandwagon and rile everybody up like I did with Ossining a couple of years ago…

    …maybe I’ll do Dobbs Ferry…lol

Good luck everybody today and tomorrow and enjoy the perfect weather!
