To say it was a memorable 24-hour stretch for Chris Cousin would be a big understatement.

The morning after helping Somers pick up a 14-6 season-opening win over visiting Iona Prep, Cousin decided  on his college future.

The senior goaltender verbally committed to attend Holy Cross.

His decision means he will be joining his twin brother Kevin, who had five goals and three assists against Iona Prep, at the Division I level.

The 5-foot-7, 140-pound Chris Cousin, an all-section honorable-mention selection last season,  is an aggressive netminder with good quickness.

Kevin Cousin, an attackman, is headed to Siena College.

Now, let’s get Chris’ thoughts on his college selection.

What were the main factors in your decision?
I visited a lot of schools, but I really loved the campus at Holy Cross.  Also, the head coach (Jim Morrissey), is a great guy, and he is extremely knowledgeable about the game.  I want to play at a small sized school with challenging academics and a high level of lacrosse. Holy Cross is the perfect fit.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I also considered Binghamton, Tufts, Brown, Harvard, Dartmouth and Washington & Lee.  I visited all those schools except Dartmouth and Washington & Lee.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I think I am good at saving the ball and turning offense into defense.  Also, I am a very aggressive goalie, and I love to challenge shooters near the crease.

What areas of your game do you think you need to improve on?
I need to improve on my communication.  I get very focused on saving the ball, and I sometimes forget to help direct the defense. My coaches are big on communication, so I will need to communicate better if we want to have a successful season.
