A few of interesting girls games today:

John Jay at Yorktown – first chance the section gets at seeing what town has this year.

Hen Hud at L/P – probably a blowout, but we can see if Hen Hud will make a push to the top this year.

Mahopac at Carmel – probably another blowout, but maybe a rivalry will eventually develop.

JFK at Somers – we will see if Somers can emerge as a new power in the section.

I was impressed when Byram beat Clarks South yesterday. anyone else? Gail Lozado knows what she is doing, that is for sure.

  2. Laxtime says:

    Final: Byram Hills 6, N. Rockland 5

    • lax says:

north rockland was leading the whole game they fell apart late. Good team this year should shock alot of people.

      • Really?? says:

lax, I think your definition of the “whole game” is different than most peoples definition. The first quarter ended scoreless. And after Kaiser for Byram scored three straight goals for Byram I think the score was 4-4 early in 4th quarter and then BH stretched it to 6-4 deep into the 4th and only a late goal by North Rockland made it 6-5.

SO again your definition of “whole game ” needs to be reviewed.

        • laxbro says:

4 to 3 at the start of the 4th is leading the whole game. They just feel apart late because of there lack of depth.

  3. ctlax says:

Anyone have a score update on the Darien v. Salisbury scrimmage score?

    • Lax Novice says:

      By quarters –

      Darien 1 2 0 0 3

      Salisbury 1 0 1 3 5

Case Matheis DNP for Darien; substitutes played 4th quarter for the Wave.

Eyeball test – Fairly even possession time, Darien D and goalie very effective vs a potent O for Salisbury. Unlike last year, no 5th quarter to play underclassmen.

      • Blue White says:

Original here, what’s up with the DNP? As much as he’s killed WHS and every other school in the FCIAC it would be a shame if he wasn’t 100% for his senior season.

Meniscus removal can ultimately be painful with bone on bone, but hopefully that won’t occur until the over 40 league for him.

        • Lax Novice says:

Regretfully they don’t consult me before making these decisions, but I’d heard in the stands that he was simply giving it a rest on what was expected to be a damp and chilly evening. I’d think unless it rains Saturday he’ll go when the Wave scrimmage Staples then. And no matter what he’ll play next Wednesday when the season opens.

If I recall the injury to the meniscus was a tear that was repaired, not removed, so I don’t think he’s suffering bone-on-bone just yet. He seemed pretty quick in the other scrimmages to my uneducated eye. Thanks for asking though.

  4. Pelican Brief says:

    Pelham beats Ossining 7-5.

  5. Laxn says:

    Clarkstown North 9 Briarcliff 8

  6. Townie says:

Congrats to Yorktown and John Jay girls on a wonderfully played game today won by Yorktown 17-16. Such a high quality of play for opening week. Hope the boys can match this on Saturday 😉

  7. ArlingtonFan says:

Congrats to Lourdes for playing in their first varsity game yesterday. They lost, but it is a step in the right direction. Keep working hard!
