Josh Oliver has had a change of course.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Canadian native, who committed to Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., this past November, has decided to head further south.
The senior attackman at the Vermont Academy is now bound for a Division I program that’s as far south as it gets, Jacksonville University.
“Quinnipiac was very gracious in giving me a full release,” said Oliver, who is a strong finisher and dodger. “Jacksonville offered me and my family a great package financially and Coach Guy van Arsdale is really putting a program together that wants to win.
“They are doing great things there, like playing huge schools like Duke and Navy, which got my interest. They play this weekend in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ stadium vs. Navy.
“The location is second to none being the only D-I lacrosse program in the state of Florida.
“They have a great group of guys who are doing big things down there and I want to be a part of a program that is going to be a big surprise to everyone in the coming years as we are planning to win the MAAC and from there, who knows?”
