After years of contemplation, it’s now about to become a reality on the field.

Michigan will be playing its first game as a Division I member in men’s lacrosse on Sunday when the Wolverines face Detroit  in a 1 p.m. game at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, Mich.

Be sure to check out the first D-I lax roster in school history, which includes a pair of Greenwich, Conn.

The Big Blue’s big move is the topic of a feature story that was published today in The New York Times. The story examines the possible of other Big 10, and also Pac 10, programs adding the sport.

Congrats to Ryan Walsh (Wantaugh and Sting) from Colgate scoring his 1st college goal today against Bryant College.

Thought they’d beat Detroit at least. Guess not. Long way to go, but good they are up and running.

will be a long year for them, can’t see them winning more than 2 or 3, they are playing a very comepetitive schedule for a first year team, and they still are playing some of their club kids, albeit it the better ones. They ought to be able to recruit from our area, as it is very popular school for many east coast kids.

      Welcome back.

Yeah I’m rooting for them but after seeing the loss to Detroit and re-looking at their schedule really hit home to me that they could be in store for some gigantic losses which I hope won’t diminish the support of the fans (many of whom may not realize the mis-match) or demoralize the team.

As you alluded to looks like they may have taken on too tough a schedule for a first yr team?

Lax on NBC Sports this weekend. FYI to everyone, Ohio State-Denver, and Jacksonville-Navy will be on NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus) on Sunday 2pm and 4pm. Go Bucks!
