A playoff-style tournament to decide the top youth town programs in the tristate area will be held Saturday, March 31 and Sunday, April 1 at the Green Vale School in Old Brookville, N.Y.

The second-year Top Rank Lacrosse Tournament is sponsored by Maverik Lacrosse.

Teams from Long Island, the Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New Jersey will take part in a one-day playoff/bracket tournament with a minimum of three games, which crowns a champion.

Some of the towns that participated in 2011 were Garden City, Manhasset, Smithtown, Three Village, New Canaan, Greenwich, Summit, Bedford and Cross River.

Here’s the lineup for each day:

March 31: Grades 4, 5 and 6
April 1: Grades 7 and 8

Centrally located on Long Island on Nassau County’s North Shore, the Green Vale School is located on a 40-acre campus with six manicured fields.

Excellent run tourney, while they do crown a champ – given its a youth tourney – emphasis is on good sportsmanship. Even saw Paul Carc, giving defensive middie advice to a kid in between games.. Good stuff. If you have an above average youth team – check it out.
