The Wall Street Journal explores how the popularity of lacrosse has skyrocketed in the urban portions of the tristate area in today’s editions.

The growth is especially apparent at the youth level, which has seen a 42 percent increase in participation the last five years.

In college news, Rick Sowell has been one of the more successful coaches in men’s lax. And he’s shared the wealth.

After being named Ivy League coach of the year at Dartmouth, Sowell moved on to St. John’s. From there, he  built Stony Brook into one of the top programs in Division I. Now, he’s moving on to Navy, replacing Richie Meade. For more on that, click here.
