Notre Dame-bound Jack Near is one of two Bronxville seniors named to the All-America team, along with Georgetown-bound Charlie McCormick.

All-American in lacrosse is one of the most prestigious honors a high school athlete can achieve.

In the next week or so, we’ll be finding out who earned that honor from the nation’s No. 1 hotbed for lacrosse, the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region.

First up, Hudson Valley, which was selected just moments ago. The nine honorees include two players each from Section 1 champions Yorktown and Bronxville and sectional finalist Lakeland/Panas.

Here’s the list. All nine players are seniors:

Rob Caffrey, attack, Lakeland/Panas, College – Providence
TJ Foley, midfield, Mahopac, College – Drexel
Justin Mabus, midfield, Yorktown, College – Towson
Charlie McCormick, midfield, Bronxville, College – Georgetown
Jack Near, midfield, Bronxville, College – Notre Dame (pictured above)
Connor Prunty, midfield, Lakeland/Panas, College – Siena
Ty Schuldt, midfield, Yorktown, College – Hartford
Eddie Schurr, defense, Somers, College – Johns Hopkins
Jake Weil, midfield, John Jay, College – Dartmouth

We took a look at Charlie McCormick prior to last night’s AA announcement on our weekly tristate lax segment on MSG Varsity’s “High School SportsDesk.” We also went to Fordham Prep for our “Under the Radar” player. You can check out the five-minute segment by clicking here.
