It’s been our pleasure to pass along news of several charitable endeavors by varsity teams throughout the area the last few days.

Now, here is some info about an undertaking in support of U.S. troops overseas taken by the Clarkstown South boys lacrosse team and scheduled around its annual showdown against rival Clarkstown North.

The Vikings will be running the campaign on Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to assist active duty deployed men and women in the Armed Forces.  Players will be collecting personal items that are not accessible to military personal.

The Adopt-A-Platoon program is being run and overseen by Pamela and Jack Kaufman and all donations will be delivered to West Nyack U.S. Post Office where they will be boxed up and sent overseas.

The day includes the JV game between the teams at 3:30 p.m.

Both games will begin with a South student singing the National Anthem. Clarkstown South has invited the Vietnam War Veterans Color Guard to open the JV game and the Korean War Veterans Color Guard to open the Varsity game.
