As far as early season Tuesdays go, it was a pretty eventful one, headline by Chaminade winning “Round 1” over rival St. Anthony’s 10-5 (photo from yesterday’s game above and article here).

Also yesterday, John Jay handled Rye 10-6; Fordham Prep stunned Iona Prep 10-9; West Islip beat Connetquot 8-7 in OT; and Mahopac beat Arlington 10-8.

To name just some of the interesting scores.

If the season is anything like Gameday Tuesday, 4/5 was, fasten your seatbelts, gang. We should be in for a wild ride.

Now, to what’s on the schedule for today.

Headlining the action is the start of the Connecticut public school schedule. There are several noteworthy games, including an intra-state contest between 2009 FCIAC champ Ridgefield and 2009 Section 1 Class B champ Somers, at Somers. The teams have split their meetings the last two years.

With the season in Connecticut now under way, be sure to exercise your right to vote in our latest poll question: “What do you think the outcome of the Darien-Greenwich game will be?”

That game is scheduled for this Saturday at 3 p.m. at Greenwich.

There are lots of interesting angles. Most notably, it’s a rematch of an FCIAC semifinal last year won by Greenwich 8-7. For more check out the LaxMagazine.com Northeast Region HS Network in which it’s been tabbed the “Game of the Week” by clicking here.

  1. Rockl Lax says:

Section one game of the week will be…

Suffern at Lakeland/Panas on friday. This easily could be a preview of the class A champioship. Should be a good game as well.

  2. clam says:

Dooleys and rye held to 1 goal in the second half come on guys you have to do better then that.

  3. Lax Novice says:

Last season two teams managed to score 10 goals against Darien in a game – Top 5 Nationally ranked Conestoga PA, and today’s opponent, St. Joseph of Trumbull. St. Joe got 9 in the first half, so that speaks to a very competent and capable offense for the Class S power. The Wave will be reminded of that before today’s game, most certainly.

Let’s go with Darien 12 – St. Joe’s 4. Good luck to all.

  4. Joe Lombardi says:

Jim Stout from MaxPreps.com reports Scarsdale and host Eastchester are tied 2-2 after one quarter.

  5. Joe Lombardi says:

    It’s 4-3 Scarsdale at halftime.

  6. sec1 says:

    Ridgefield vs Somers
    any score?

    • Lax Guy says:

Ridgefield won 9-8, even in defeat I was impressed by Somers, very athletic with good speed. Great game in lousy conditions.

  7. Jericho says:

    WM 13, Northport 5

  8. sec1 says:

Rumor is Case Mathias of Darien has de- commited to Duke and is going to ND?

  9. Pelican Brief says:

    Pelham 8 White Plains 6

  10. laxrat says:

sec1 – As a Darien lacrosse supporter I can tell you that that is not true.

  11. BigRed50 says:

Case Matheis is 100% committed to playing for Duke. This will never change.

  12. Lax Supporter says:

any word on the Mamo /Bronxville game??

  13. sec1 says:

    Ok thank you Laxrat

  14. Lax dad says:

    Bronxville 10 – Mamo 6

Mamo up 5-4 in the 3rd. Being two men down for a minute (1 unreleasable) hurt Mamo in the 3rd. Once Bronxville went ahead, they didn’t look back. Great play by #2 and #10 on bronxville. Mamo goalie had an unbelievable game

  15. Mountie Man says:

    Suffern 10, TZ 3

  16. Lax Major says:

    Westminster 13 Suffield 2

  17. Jericho says:

    Floyd 14
    Copiague 12

    Hicksville 7
    Oceanside 6

    Sachem North 17
    Whitman 5

    Friends 6
    Carey 5

    Huntington 10
    Islip 7

  18. Niner Lax says:

    Warwick Valley over Kingston 9-4
Valley Central over Newburgh Free Academy 15-2

  19. Go For It says:

    I was at Somers- Ridgefield.
All though I was not there Friday This could not be the same team that played Iona Prep. What a great game. Well played, very well coached as both tems made adjustments throughout. SOmers Lombardo and #26 ??, and Ridge #5 were players. Ridge Goalie was just skightly better. And I do not usually say this but refs were HORRIBLE. These guys have to start realizing what can of atheletes are playing here. Some of these penalties would not be called in the 3rd grade. Good game , both teams will be heard from later on.

  20. CT Lax says:

    Cheshire 8, Hand 7

    Avon 8, Farmington 7

    Greenwich 18, Westhill 8

    Trumbull 10, Stamford 7

  21. GreenBear says:

So who won the Somers game?

  22. Laxidazical says:

Pelham looked good today vs White Plains. A strong Junior class leads the team. A breakout season ahead.
