Darien looks dominant, but no one is handing the FCIAC tournament title to the nation’s No. 3 ranked team.

Not at all.

After all, recent history tells us to expect the unexpected.

In fact, three different teams have won the conference’s postseason championship the last three years.

What’s in store for this season?

That’s the subject of our latest high school notebook for Inside Lacrosse. We also take a look at Garden City’s challenging opening week of games beginning on Tuesday at Syosset as well as Thursday’s Darien-John Jay scrimmage. You can check it out by clicking here.

Finally, a quick programming note.

Our preseason tristate regional HS preview segments will debut on the 6 p.m. edition of MSG Varsity’s “High School SportsDesk” today (Tuesday, March 22) on Channel 14 with the Long Island preview. (The show reairs at 9 p.m.) Catch the show each night for a preview of a different region. The Connecticut preview airs Wednesday (March 23), Hudson Valley on Thursday (March 24), Westchester on Friday (March 25), New York City (March 29) and New Jersey (April 1).

Each preview features Top 5 teams, Top 5 players, a team to watch and games to watch.
