WOW, Thats a lot of Lax. And good teams. Dont know about Jericho??
If Lew is in charge of the concessions there is sure to be Italian combos, lasagna and Calamari.!!
    LOL.
Might have four section champs there : L/P-Town-Valley-Guilderland.
Oh now here comes the JJ folks!!

    • PV Lax Dad says:

Jericho is a Long Island public school team. They have some nice players, two standouts on midfield/attack (Chasen and Brett are the last names from what i remember).
They beat Putnam Valley and Yorktown and can be dangerous this season.

  2. Laxtime says:

Wow some of these teams have five scrimmages. That’s a long day. Maybe too much?

  3. D-Pac says:

Hey All aboard, maybe three section champs there. Mahopac won’t be there, lol.

  4. Old Rugger says:

Not too much as these teams will be able to play everyone so the coaches can get a good look at what they have in game situations. These are only 35 min. This will help determine playing time in the season.

  5. upstate says:

Did anyone see the ESPN Rise Fab 50 poll? JJ got some love on the list but all of the other big schools in Section 1 got left out. Long Island had a good showing as usual with Section 8 and Section 11, but no Yorktown, L/P, Somers, Suffern, etc. not a sniff. thoughts?

  6. SWLAX says:

National rankings are a joke and those who think they can accurately rank the 50 best in the country with over 3000 teams playing the sport are delusional.
L/P may deserve mention on the list, but not sure anyone else in the section, program history aside Town fans, deserves any votes.

  7. Unsure says:

I think we have to realize who is actually ranking these teams, and the criteria. Often heard in the past it mostly deals with returning players and where they are committed.
Red/Grey is always a nice event. Well run in that the games move along and the coaches get a chance to play everyone and get a good look.
Try the egg sandwiches for breakfast very good!!
L/P-Town-Somers not playing , Im guessing who ever made the schedule di this on purpose?

  8. HV Lax says:

I agree. No point to ever have one team play five scrimmages in one day unless you have a roster of over 40 kids.

  9. Black and Yellow says:

Again its not five scrimmages. 35 min running time is pretty quick. More like three games, if that.
    Stop babying our kids!!

  10. reLAX says:

Sounds like a good field of teams.

  11. ROFL says:

    Mr.Observer,
Your post just shows how some people have NO idea what they are talking about. Why would Coach Janavey schedule those teams to scrimmage when they all play each other during the spring(same league) HENCE the reason why all three coaches(Lindsay, Marr and Janavey) obvious all agreed not to scrimmage during the red and Grey. Do your research before you post and its amazing what you will find out!

  12. CC says:

CMon, Observer. Must not be really observing.
We all know most of these coaches in all sports, on all levels do not like to scrimmage teams that they play during the regular season. There all to paranoid, and neurotic that the other team might figure something out. Also if you look at Somers schedule the last three years not only is it seriously more competitive. It is obvious Coach Lew does not Duck ANYONE!

  13. Not JL says:

Somers will be better this year. Defense and Goalie situation ESPECIALLY!!
Offense may be down slightly. But overall abetter team. Yorktown is loaded. L/P is very good, however a short bench. Put Valley does not have the offense of the past.

  14. Observer Lax says:

That is strange that Town LP and Somers aren’t playing. Don’t they want good preseason competition? I think the coaches take this stuff too seriously. Just play!

  15. Lax Hound says:

It’s really true. Some of these coaches think it’s bigger than it is. Bottom line – get a good run, always play or scrimmage the best competition regardless of who it is/when/where.

  16. justlaxin says:

I was there Saturday. Town and Montgomery were the two best teams there. Somers and LP lost to Montgomery, both by a decent amount. LP tied Bosco by my count, and beat Jericho. Town won all 4 of its games. They beat FL, Guilderland and Jericho by alot. They beat Montogomery by a couple or one. It was a nice day of lacrosse. Jericho and the Foxes seemed to be a step below teh other teams, include Guilderland in there as well. LP looks like it is working on the D end as they have all new starters there and in the cage. Young Prunty looked good but still he is young. Somers looked decent at times, but midfield depth appears to be a concern. Good job by Somers as the games all ran on time.

    • LaxFan12 says:

From watching all day, I think the competition looked pretty good, Jericho beat Yorktown and Putnam (badly) but lost to LP and Somers. They were a solid team. Yorktown looked extremely strong, they should be good this year with last bits of rust removed. LP should be strong as well, with leadership they can do many things and go many places. Somers will be talented, wtih a monster defense (the offense will need a bit more help). Overall, the competition and teams were fantastic. Great day put together by these teams (and Somers for organizing)!

  17. 12rock says:

All you folks with who beat who….come on now it’s a SCRIMMAGE… ease up on the coffee … a good day for the players and coaches …lets not read to deep ! HELLO!
