The Class C race will take on a whole new look in Section 1 this coming season.

That’s because Rye, which has made six straight appearances in the class championship game, has moved up to Class B.

Minus Rye, be sure to weigh in with your thoughts on how the Class C race shapes up in Section 1 by casting your vote in our poll question.

On the right panel of this page, just scroll past the “New Comments” and “Popular” tabs and click on “Poll,” and then cast your vote from the choices available, or write in your choice if it’s not listed.

For a look at one of the contending teams in Class C, we turn to one of the premier goaltenders in the Hudson Valley region, Byram Hills junior captain Andrew Larrabee.

Larrabee, who has been an impact player on varsity since ninth grade, was an all-section honorable-mention selection last year.

Here are Andrew’s perspectives on the season.

What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
We have team workouts five days a week in the weight room and gym sessions two nights a week.  We have a team in the Brewster Indoor League team and we rented out time in the Armonk Indoor Dome once a week.  We have been trying to push one another as much as possible to get ready for the season.

How does your schedule look, including scrimmages, and what games are you looking forward to?
We have a pretty solid schedule this year.  We’re definitely looking forward to our league games versus Fox Lane, Rye and Horace Greeley, who are all rivals of ours and very good teams. Also, our game against Putnam Valley is always a big match-up for us; they have gotten the best of us in past years, but we are hoping to challenge them this season.

What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
This year we are putting a very strong emphasis on playing a team game, but one player I think will surprise people is Charlie Murphy.  He has the ability to dodge and score from both attack and midfield.

What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
I think the strength of our team will be our depth and experience.  We return 20-plus players from last year’s team, including eight of 10 starters.  We have 11 kids in their third year on the team; that leadership and experience should be an asset for us, especially in close games. Our midfield should also be a strength for us as we return our top eight midfielders from last year’s team; they all have a lot of athleticism and have the potential to put up some good numbers.

How do you view the race in Section 1 and who do you think the contending teams will be in your class?
With Rye moving up, Class C opens up a lot.  Putnam Valley and Bronxville are consistently tough opponents for us. Pleasantville and Pelham should also be in the mix. Hopefully through hard work, we will be able to make a successful run in the postseason.

Andrew is a good player and an even better kid. Good luck this season. In my opinion Larabee, Fraylick, and Stephens are the best that section 1 has to offer.

Larabee is a good goalie, he needs to play big this year for BH to go far. Never heard of Charlie Murphy. Must not play on a summer team. I have seen Joe Petti and Nik Carpenteri ( Westrock) and Jake Kaiser( Primetime). Rye and FL are going to be tough games for BH. Rye and FL have many more players that play lacrosse in the summer/fall. BH has good athletes that have crossed over from their soccer team but bc they dont play on summer or fall teams their lax skills & lax IQ is limited. If a soccer game breaks out BH should be in the Class C finals.
