We have plenty of interesting and informative “Player perspective” features in store for you folks in the weeks to come.

So be sure to check back for that.

While we will be getting perspectives from the leading players from throughout the region, we will also, of course, continue to update you with all the latest recruiting news.

Be sure to check out our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” each day for new additions for the classes of 2011, 2012 and even 2013.

We will also continue to take in-depth looks at the selections of the commitments we have reported on.

Today, we focus on defenseman Ryan Breen. A captain and standout at Phillips Exeter, Breen is now attending the Taft School in Watertown, Conn., for a post-grad year before heading off to Lafayette. (In the photo above, Breen signs his National Letter of Intent with the Leopards.)

Here’s a Q&A with Ryan on his commitment:

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Lafayette?
It is a great school with a great lacrosse program, and Coach (Terry) Mangan really made the decision easy early on in the process.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Lehigh, Brown, Penn, Georgetown, UMass and Colgate

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I want to become a better student of the game.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths are my athleticism, aggressiveness, and 1-on-1 play.  I would describe my style of play as physical and “with an edge.”

What players have you looked up to as you have moved up through the varsity ranks?
Matt Callahan and Sam Gardner, two defensemen currently at Tufts who really took me under their wings and taught me a lot.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
Early on in my high school career.  My freshman year, I made the varsity at Exeter as a midfielder and after being switched to long pole, I realized I could use my size, athleticism, and awareness to play strong defense.
